recycling is the process by which plastic waste is recovered and transformed into new useful products. This reduces dependence on virgin raw materials derived from petroleum. <\/p><p>Plastic waste can come from different sources such as containers, packaging, bottles, films, pipes, industrial components, automotive parts, etc. Once it has been processed, i.e. after going through the stages of shredding, washing and granulation, it becomes raw material for the manufacture of plastic pellets, textile fibres, construction products or new packaging.  <\/p><p>In addition, more than 350 million tonnes of plastic waste are generated worldwide every year. However, a large proportion of this ends up in landfills or in the environment.
